Lack of hydration for your hair and skin

water is key- itchy skin

Lack of water can really show up in your hair condition and skin condition.  Have you ever wondered what the cause of dry, brittle hair is?  Or even flaky, itchy skin?

You usually reach for a mask or a different type of product.  It’s easy to look at the products first, but you need to look at how much water you are drinking.

You need to drink at least 8 8oz glasses of water a day.  This is a starting point.

“When you don’t drink enough water, you become dehydrated. Dehydration prevents your body from eliminating toxins through your skin, which in turn makes your skin more susceptible to skin problems and disorders, such as dry skin, eczema, psoriasis, discoloration, and even premature wrinkling. Assuming these issues were caused by dehydration, they can be improved over time with proper hydration.”  –WebMd

It is amazing, what an energy boost you will get.  Although I completely understand just wanting to drink some coffee.  Drink your water first!

Water is key- Simple solution on how to get more

Many of us struggle to get enough water a day.  This is something that is easily available to most of us, and a goal for most.

Simple tips to drink more water:

1. Drink water before you get out of bed

2. Have a jug filled at the beginning of the day with the amount you need to drink

3. Download a drink reminder app on your phone

4. Always carry a water bottle with you

5. Change up the water bottle, I sometimes like a straw or a wide mouth bottle

6. Drink water before coffee

7. Drink water before you eat

I personally prefer a water bottle that has the lines with how many ounces it holds.  It stresses me when they don’t.

Recipes to try

I love adding fruit or mint to my water.  I just went to brunch with a friend and they had water infused with lemon, cucumber, mint, and pomegranate.  I was amazed at how delicious it was.

Here are some yummy combinations.

lemon mint water

– Lemon + Mint

– Blueberry + Lemon + Mint

– Watermelon + Mint

Your options are endless.  You can really put any fruit in there, oranges, lime, strawberries, and cherry.

Try them out and see what your favorites are.

As hard as it is sometimes to remember to drink your water, but your body will love you for it.
