Why is Fragrance in Beauty Products Dangerous?
When you see the ingredient “fragrance” listed on your product, it can contain, on average, 14 secret chemicals not disclosed. Companies don’t need to tell you because of a “trade secret” law.
Which means you don’t know what is in your product that you are using on your body. You have no way to tell if you are allergic to an ingredient unless you contact the company, and they disclose what’s in their fragrance. Majority probably won’t because they don’t have to.
Attached to fragrance is another ingredient called Phthalates. Phthalates are added in conjunction with fragrance to keep the smell lasting longer. Sounds great, right?
Wrong!

What can happen to me if I use beauty products with fragrance?
Phthalates are extremely dangerous. They are linked to:
-Cause Cancer
-Endocrine Disruptor
-Reproductive Issues
-Developmental Issues
-Birth Defects
-Respiratory Issues
-Low Sperm Count
To name a few.
It absorbs in through your skin and wreaks havoc on your body.
Fragrance can also cause asthma and allergies. It is a pollutant in your home as well as to the environment.
What alternatives should I look for in place of fragrance?
If a company has your best interest in mind, they will share loud and proud of their product ingredients. So there can still be a scent to their product (don’t worry, you don’t have to opt only for unscented), but it will tell you exactly what it is.
I love options that use essential oils.
One thing that I always educate on is to support companies that support you.
What do I mean?
If a company is going to use harmful ingredients and, worse yet, hide them, they aren’t looking out for your health, and you shouldn’t support them.
