They’re too sticky. They weigh your hair down. They look greasy.
I used to feel the same way.
I also used to think they didn’t do anything. What was their purpose?
Well after years of being a hairstylist, I can assure you they do have a purpose. Finding the right ones can be the tricky part.
After this post, it won’t be tricky anymore.
Here is the number 1 reason why you need to have a styling aide (I.e. mousse, gel, hairspray, etc) in your hair, it holds your style.
I can’t tell you the number of times I’ve been told by women that their hair can’t hold a curl or the style falls flat instantly.
When I ask if they use any products to hold, 9 out of 10 times the answer is no.
Most women don’t use products because of the reasons I have listed above, but if you don’t put something in your hair prior, you have nothing to hold the style you’ve spent so much time working on.
I am going to share with you 5 products that women who don’t like the feel of products love.

1.Reflect gel
This has become one of my absolute favorites!!! It is gold for someone who is anti-products.
I used to hate using gels. In my mind a gel was crunchy and really wet looking. It was only good for curly hair or really short haircuts.
Well not anymore ladies!!! You will fall in love.
It has a nice medium hold. With a soft sent. You won’t feel it in your hair at all.
2. Trinity Protein Repair Tonic
Anytime you are adding heat to your hair you want to make sure you are protecting your strands. This heat protectant is not anything like your average heat protectant.
The vegan amaranth protein wraps around the cuticle layer of your hair to build strength.
That means those ends that are looking thin will be thicker.
Mmm.. hmm, you heard me!
Thicker! And Stronger!
This is also ideal for those ladies who have longer hair that just seems to break off. Your hair is creating a lot of friction rubbing against your clothes. In return that makes your hair thin and fragile.

3. Bliss Smoothing Cream
Where are my ladies with wave or soft curl?
Do you want smoother hair, but not flat hair?
This is ideal for you! It’s a nice light cream. That means not heavy and won’t weigh your hair down.
It adds shine and helps fight against frizz.
4. Curls Whip Mousse
What about the days when you want to wear your hair curly or wavy? You still need to have a product to give some hold and definition to your curls.
I wasn’t always a fan of curl mousses because of the crunch again.
This has such a nice natural hold that it doesn’t look/feel crunchy or stiff.
There is a lot of moisture infused in it as well from the cocoa butter and babassu seed oil.
(It smells like a chocolate cupcake)
This is what I used everyday that I wear my hair wavy.
5. Bassu Oil
I cannot tell you enough good things about this AH-MAZING oil!!
It comes from the babasu tree which is found in Brazil.
This oil will restore and intensify your natural shine while providing hydration.
You don’t have to worry about this oil weighing your hair down or even causing greasy spots. It penetrates into the cuticle of your hair and delivers the hydration and antioxidants deep into the hair shaft.
I love using this oil to “finish” your style.
